The spring 2011 issue of Perspective is now available. This issue is bittersweet for me; I’m proud of my substantial contributions in this edition, but it’s also the last Perspective I will be involved with during the production process. It’s been a good run.

Fall-winter 2010 ME News

The fall/winter 2010-2011 issue of ME News was published in January. Highlights include an in-depth feature about UW-Madison’s influence on a new type of naval vessel, a new high-performance computational center, a partnership with Trek to alleviate cyclist palsy with a new glove, and more.

My article about Ryan Kershner, the new College of Engineering instructional designer, was re-published in the January 19, 2011 edition of Wisconsin Week, the official UW-Madison newspaper. The article is on page 4.

Fall-Winter 2010 ISyE News

The fall/winter 2010-2011 issue of ISyE News has been published. Features include the new UW-Madison driving simulation lab, an award presented to Google’s first female engineer, using video games to tackle implicit bias, a major initiative to create a personal healthcare record system and more.

Perspective: 2010 Gift Report issue

The winter 2010 gift report issue of Perspective is out. The below file is an abridged version of the print publication, which included donor names. My feature, “Alumni and students ‘cook up’ future of vehicle teams,” is on pages 14-15 of the pdf.

My stories about the new UW-Madison driving simulator and a partnership between mechanical engineers and Trek appeared in the November 17, 2010 issue of Wisconsin Week, the official UW-Madison newspaper. Look on page 5.

Perspective: 2010 Annual Report issue

The College of Engineering annual report has been recast as an issue of Perspective, the alumni magazine. Here is the inaugural issue of the annual report in this new form.

I wrote the p. 9 feature “A Bright Idea,” as well as the electrical and computer, industrial and systems, mechanical, and materials science sections. I also wrote “Environmental engineering, for stem cells” and “Power plants” in the chemical engineering section.

This is the latest issue of ISyE News, the industrial and systems engineering newsletter. Originally published in July 2010, I wrote and edited the text, and Phil Biebl created the graphic design.
